While diddling around at the computer this evening, I was playing with a lens hood, and while looking through it I noticed that everything seemed a little sharper, just like looking through a toilet paper tube, etc. OK, that's how the human eye works, but does a camera lens "see" things to be sharper when using a lens hood, and is the image on the film sharper, apart from any increase in contrast or flare reduction?
