What's all this business about the differences between the PZ1-p and MZ-S? I keep reading these references to the frames per second and flash sync speed capabilities. Suddenly, it seems as though the PZ1-p has become in the minds of some, a piece of junk. Far from it my friend. It will be the best $479.00 you've ever spent on a Pentax 35mm camera body.
Is the Pentax PZ1-p rugged? Mine is. What the hell am I gonna do, abuse it on purpose? An F5 or EOS 1v or Maxxum 9 it is not. Neither is the MZ-S. Is it ergonomic? Its the most ergonomic 35mm camera I've ever handled straight out of the box. Battery sucker? Doesn't seem to be. Heck, I say buy the PZ1-p now and wait a couple of years to get an MZ-S. MZ-Ss will be cheaper and the PZ1-ps will be long gone as new units(I speculate). If you are like most of us you are an equipment junkie as much as you are a photographer. It comes with the territory. So put off the MZ-S and get the PZ1-p...you might just fall in love with it. I did. I like using my PZ1-p. I don't have to take my eye off of the viewfinder to operate it. I really like the front and rear "thumb" wheels for controlling shutter speed and aperture. The built-in flash is awesome. I like how it can be used in conjunction with the AF500FTZ flash in contrast control mode. The hot-shoe is also offset....brilliant! You will find as you use the camera, should you decide to get one, that it is lovely indeed. I will cry when the day comes that I no longer have a functioning PZ1-p...hope it never does. Someday,I will get an MZ-S just because Pentax makes it, and folks whose opinions I value, dig it. Just think, you'll save money AND get a great camera. Sorry for the ranting but I just love my PZ1-p. Regards, Robert Proud owner of a PZ1-p, ZX5n, ME Super, Super Program, K1000, FT2, and sooooon an LX. MZ-S in a couple of months, oops I mean years honey. Medium format? Hmmmmm. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, January 31, 2002 10:11 AM Subject: which one to choose? > Hello to all, > > I was able to save up about $500 towards purchasing a new camera body and > possibly a prime lens.
