Hi guys and gals, After thinking about it for a (long) while, I've eventually decided what my favorite pieces of equipment are:
Favorite body: 6x7 Favorite lens: K 24/2.8 (although is among my less used lenses...) Favorite film: Fuji Provia 100F I'd like to add some comments about my choices. I had a hard time trying to figure out what makes me lean to one thing instead of another. I could for different reasons have chosen the LX instead of the 6x7, and even a K-1000 as well (and why not the MX, or the Z-1p, or... ?). But I choose the 6x7 not only for the size of the frames but mainly for the concept. The idea of a camera really rugged, solid, built to last and most of all easy to use. And, surprisingly, light (it is, without the prism, because it has what you need and nothing more). The lens, as I wrote, is not my most used one. Nonetheless it's my choice when I want to rely on a single wide angle for everything, when I don't want to bring with me the 20 AND the 28 or the 20-35. Its build quality is really worth to mention (WRT this parameter only I could chose most of my lenses, though) but its feel is better than ANY other lens I own. The optical quality is astonishing too, although it suffers from a bit of distorsion. The film choice has been harder. I use more or less the same amount of B&W, slide and negative films. I was chosing the Agfa Scala, but it could be my favorite film only if its price and the price of its development weren't so expensive. I decided for the Provia because I like slide films but I don't like too much the colour push given i.e. by the Velvia or by other films that I like for some other purpose. I like its lack of grain which helps a lot when you plan to enlarge a slide, and the detail it gives in the shadows. That's all for now!
