My guess is a female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris). A
frequent visitor to my feeder.

I'm very excited about this, as, other than at a feeder, this is the
first hummingbird I've ever seen in the wild, let alone photographed:

A bit larger than others I've seen, this was a one-shot deal - he took
off quickly and flew into a thicket. I saw him hovering at a flower
then he sat on this branch for a few seconds - just long enough for me
to shoot one frame.
Anyone know what type?
Hope you enjoy. Comments welcome.
cheers,
frank
