Appropriate, as I was born in 1942. Probably drill into my sub-
conscience as I lay in the clothes hamper, which is where my mother
kept her babies #1 (me) and #2. #3 got a crib, bassinet, and all those
goodies. We hate her!

"Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition" is an American patriotic
song written by Frank Loesser and published as sheet music in 1942.
The song was a response to the Attack on Pearl Harbor. The phrase
itself is traced to LT JG Howell Forgy, who was a chaplain aboard the
USS New Orleans during the Japanese attack that Sunday morning in
December, 1941.

I was taught that it was a saying from the American war of
Independence.
There is a WWII song of that title.

THE SENILITY PRAYER :
Grant me the senility to forget the people
I never liked anyway,
The good fortune to run into the ones I do, and
The eyesight to tell the difference.
