Who knows? Everything's possible! More probably, the masking wouldn't be precise enough, e.g. in one direction more, in the other less... I wouldn't be surprised, the S1p is such an English pudding <g> - everything put together... it uses about two or three different batteries (2CR5 for body, 6 AAs for the digital part), is built on F60 (sic! the most stupid nikon ever), etc...
