Over at YahooGroups Spotmatic Users Group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Spotmatic/

one of the members took a yellowed 1.4 50mm SMC to a friend who had a
gieger counter or some such device. Turned out it read something like 150
of whatever units the device measures (roentgens maybe?), which is
apparently quite hot. But, not dangerously so. One presumes if you slept
with your lens next to your nether regions, you might eventually end up
sterile, but hey, who needs a vastectomy anyways? ;-) OTOH, if you sleep
with your lenses, you've got way more important issues to deal with.

Seriously, given the amount of time the lens would be in proximity of your
body, it should not be a problem, so our "expert" says. Just to be sure,
I shortened all the neck straps on my Spotties!

The message should be archived somewhere in the Group. I think it was
from August or September somewhere, if someone is sufficiently motivated
to dig it up.

regards,
frank
