Don't worry about it. It wasn't really a dumb question. It's just that it would probably be a bit foolish to attempt it without a lot of lens repair experience. But you knew that. In any case, I had my Vivitar Series 1 90/2.5 disassembled and cleaned at a local camera repair shop. I believe the charge was $75, but this included removal of a minimal amount of fungus. Paul
