Ahem back! They set out from Rotherhithe to Southampton. There they met the Speedwell and were supposed to sail for the New World from there. It was the lousy crew on the Speedwell who scuppered everything - allegedly by purposely springing a leak so they wouldn't have to undertake the voyage - and thence back to Plymouth for repairs. So Plymouth claims the final port of departure.
The Titanic was also pinched from Southampton - there was a late decision to stop and pick up some passengers from Cherbourg and then Cookstown in Ireland so all three claim that the Titanic sailed from them for her first and only voyage. Most of the crew who perished were Sotonians though. I'll stop now.
