I don't usually comment very much on the PUG etc.  It takes a pretty 
special picture to stir me to action.  B&W seems to be almost a lost 
art, but a couple of B&W entries on this month's PUG got my juices to 
flowing.  The irony is that Shel is probably best known for his B&W 
street photos, but I find his color shot of the flag behind the fence 
to be extremely powerful and thought provoking.  Not that Shel would 
ever want to provoke your thoughts. ;-)

On this month's PUG, I especially liked Dick Jones, "Gates of the 
Valley".  I was a little puzzled when I first saw it because I didn't 
think Ansel Adams was a list member.  But it looks like a disciple of 
his has taken up the cause.  Here is an example of extreme depth of 
field and composition that just sucks you into the great outdoors.

Mike Johnston's "G.G. and Mari" really catches a Kodak moment.  Here 
the limited depth of field isolates the subjects and the print quality, 
well, it almost glows.  The warm tones of the print add to the warmth 
of the moment.
