Bob, It was formed by pyrotechnics on the ground. They were simulating the attack on Pearl Harbor at an airshow. I couldn't see what they were acturally doing on the ground but it seemed like buckets of gasoline were being exploded causing a large fireball to rise up. This ring was formed after the fireball burned out. It kept spinning up and twisting and this pilot couldn't resist flying through it.
