The problem is there are other photographers out there who are
charging $15 and making money off of it.  They use cheap labor and
churn out the pictures fast.

They are making money by being the exclusive provider of services and
offering up-sells of the basic package.

I personally wouldn't pay more than about $15 for sports pictures of
my kid, especially if they played every week.  And even
team/individual portraits should be around that area.

Figure that the people who are making money on this are using a pro
lab that can give them prints for cheaper than Walmart, and can take
volume business.  The trick is to find one that is reasonable on cost
and easy to deal with.  A local one would be preferable IMO, since you
can visit them if there are problems.
