including English I have studied 6 languages to varying degrees, and also did 2 years of linguistics which includes a quick look at various other non-Indo-European languages. I'm very interested in historical linguistics, so I try to keep somewhat up-to-date with it. In my schooldays it was compulsory to take at least one Foreign language up to the age of 13 or 14, but nowadays I don't think any foreign languages are compulsory, which is scandalous in my opinion.
