  Voters were promised that they would get more health care for less money.

here's a view of that promise (understanding that the final bill was the result of Democrats cutting under pressure many of Obama's original ideas)

  [...]and those without insurance will be /required/ to /buy/
it or face penalties collected by the IRS.

people who can't find coverage for less than 8% of their income, as well as people who don't make enough income to have to file taxes, won't have to pay a fine

  If you think about it, is it any
surprise that just about everyone involved feels they were lied to? That's
before we get into the rationing aspect of the new system.

uhm please fill me in here if I am wrong but isn't it such that those
who can afford it must buy it whereas those who can't get some sort of
free plan?

Medicaid (free coverage for the poor) will be expanded to cover more people, but i doubt many people would say all those "who can't afford it" will get free coverage

there is tremendous disinformation about the health care issue; rather than ask here, why not read a good summary article instead:

<http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/22/your-money/health-insurance/22consumer.html>

and then see if you can make sense of public opinion:
