Why should it not work? I�ve seen something similiar at the Photokina 99 (I think). It never made it to the shelves here in Germany. Its actually only directing the flash light from a classic flash into the "bulb". The backside is made of Al-covered foil (or something similiar). Not as professional like a ring-flash, but it might work ...
