He's actually really good about staying fairly close. He and Bella
took off after some squirrels one time. He got about 50 feet away,
stopped, looked absolutely panicked that there was that much
distance between us and came back.
Bella on the other hand has the brains of a squirrel. She was gone
for 5 minutes or so.
I do keep him on leash when he's carrying though.
We went down to the lake with him off leash and he was a bit ahead
of us so he found the path to the beach and got there before us. He
was waiting patiently for me to take off his pack when I got there.
For all that I slander him, he's a very good dog.
