It's a deep, dark secret known only to the elite, i.e.
computer science students.

In Netscape, click View then Page Source. In
Explorer, click View then Source. This will show the
html code for whatever page you're looking at. Try it
now.

Alternatively, you can open your webpage that you have
saved on your computer in Notepad. Start Notepad,
then browse to the page you have. In the Open screen,
make sure you have "All File s" selected from the File
Type field.

I prefer to use Notepad when writing or viewing HTML
code. For one thing, you can change the code all you
want, something the View option on the browser doesn't
do. You can create pages with page builders like
Frontpage or Netscape Composer. The thing I don't
like about that, and this is especially true of
Frontpage, is that you wind up with a lot of extra
stuff in your code. Composer is more simplistic, but
it's free and good for basic pages. The benefit of
hand-coding is that you get exactly what you want.

In a way, it's kind of like the difference between a
point-and-shoot and a K1000.

Have fun,
Deb
