Which makes it easy, just put gaffers tape or black electrical tape
over all the identifying markings on the front of the camera, then when
the K-5 arrives do the same thing and dispose of the K-7.

The K5 and the K7 are essentially identical. Of course, that doesn't
mean you're wrong about your wife. It's clearly embedded in the

cameras to select out the trait.

Are you kidding? It's obviously even greater than the self-preservation urge. I
think my wife won't notice that the camera I'm carrying says K10 on it instead

different from K7. I'm a dead man.

Hi Guys
Every time there's a new Pentax top model, I get this URGE - Must have, got to
have it. And all the questions, how can I get it, what do I have to sell,
should I tell my whife - or simply order it, should I sell the K20D or the
K-7..and when will I get the money to buy a decent 500mm zoom (I jsut got an M
5.6 400mm from ebay, Germany) - but it's an M lens - no A and no AF - but still
a vcery good lens).
Do you also get this URGE!!

I believe the K-5 is superior to the K7 (my whife never really found out I,ve
got it, by the way). The noise issue is a big one - and the larger images (16
MP versus 14MP) as well as the black thing.
But it's almost 50 % more expencive as the K-7, which cost me appr. 1000

A link from Dario. He points out that not only is the noise greatly
reduced,
but the dynamic range on blacks is much improved as well.
