I don't think that fiscal responsibility is a trait that is exclusive to one gender or the other. On the other hand, I don'tI think that a bit of good natured banter about the wife who controls the purse strings is sexism. Men and women do have some innate differences in temperament and priorities. At one time, those differences were at least taken for granted if not applauded.
