As much as I like old cameras much more than new ones, the new ones
(some of them, though. Not Nikons! F80 sucks finder-wise) have much
better focusing screens.

interesting...

The problem is IIRC that Spotmatics use different arrangement, where there
is a (**)separate groundglass with aid and separate fresnel/field lens
which brightens the corners, while newer M series (and perhaps some K
too) use (*)one groundglass with pressed-on fresnel screen, so the former
is (**)two-piece, the latter (*)one-piece unit. But according to the guy
there, it works...:
