Better gear makes up for my being a crappy photographer, allowing me to get the photos anyways.

I hope you don't really believe this !
You may get some photos with 'better' gear, that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise, but they'll still be crappy unless you advance in the craft.

Eric, just remember that thinking that better gear will make you a better photographer leads to credit imbalance. Credit imbalance leads to suffering. Suffering leads to the dark side.

I know that better gear will not make me a better photographer. Better gear makes up for my being a crappy photographer, allowing me to get the photos anyways.
