I love the shot. It does look great in black and white. But, believe
it or not, I clicked the link and looked before I read your accompanying
commentary, and the first thing I thought was, "Man, I wonder what that
must have looked like in color."
Still, I do like it a lot. I have a certain soft spot for black and
white simply because I have extreme trouble envisioning it when I'm
shooting. It's almost always accidental when I come up with a good B&W
shot ... usually as a consequence of trying to salvage a color shot that
didn't translate well.

Also ... I've been debating myself quite a bit recently about whether
to shoot color or b&w.
Today I realized I very often convert color shots to black and white,
but never once have I ever wished I could change one of my b&w pics to
color.
Maybe because it simply isn't an option (save for reshooting) I never
think about it. But I don't know.
There's just something special to me about black and white.
Particularly film. Digital black and white can be nice, but it just
isn't the same to me.
The shot above is a good example. This scene was full of bold color.
It would've probably made an excellent shot in color. But I can't
imagine it any other way.
