Bring this whole stuff down to normal contrast and saturation levels,
undo the graduated filter/vignetting effects as wall as some of the tone
mapping, and they'll look much more ordinary.

To me, this whole contest looks more like a Photoshop championship than
anything else.

Just imagine what a generous dose of Photoshop could do to this one:
