No, I think that's a bad Photoshop selection job.
I agree. That's the look you get when using the wand to select an area
with irregular boundaries.
Believe me - I've
got a ton of them in my "to be graded" inbox at this very moment.
On further examination, though, I do think he brightened the
foreground rather than darkened the sky (though it could be a bit of
both).
I would guess both. The forest has that underexposed look one gets
with excessive dodging. Its a shame the post work is so bad, because I
think the concept has merit.
