On a slightly related note, a eucalypt at the front of our property
dropped a huge branch on Saturday night in absolutely calm conditions.
It brought down both the wires across the road and the service to our
house, but the wires remained unbroken so we didn't lose power. There
were two fire brigade vehicles, a police car and two vehicles from the
local power company parked outside until about 1:30 am when all was
restored. I shudder to think what might have happened had we not been
home. The first vehicle that came down the street would have run
straight into the downed wires.

Cheers
