Are these both in-camera JPEG examples? or raw files that you processed? The K5 is indeed an impressive improvement in any case. I did a series of casual ISO tests for the Oly E-5, with the camera's JPEG engine set to the factory defaults. Reviewing the EXIF, I noted that the factory defaults included Olympus' noise filtering at "Standard" strength, so I made another set of four exposures exploring ISO 6400 at Noise Filtering OFF, LOW, STD and HIGH settings. Might be an interesting comparison ... reduced size and full resolution files are available at: http://www.gdgphoto.com/Olympus_E-5-ISO_check/ (I'm currently processing the E-5 raw files as E-30 files in Lightroom. The camera calibration is off some so I don't think it's appropriate to show raw image renderings until Adobe includes E-5 support ... but Olympus' JPEGs are really quite good straight out of the camera.) -- Godfrey godfreydigiorgi.posterous.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
