So i test this lens and it performs really well. I totally like it. Now i went to duke gardens here in somerville today (pretty place. very nice to take pics of flowers but they dont allow use of tripods which is a shame. Plus one is NOT allowed to take ones time or roam by self which is bigger shame. I didnt bother to pack in my flash and most of my pics are now at the very edge of 1/focal length :(. So if you go, take a flash and monopod along).
So anyways, i had taken this lens along and my zx5n. Another 50/2.8 for the zx5n and the ricoh cam with m42 adapter on. Murphy is always following me close behind and as i tried to put this lens on for a shot requiring longer focal length, i realised this lens DOES NOT mount on my zx5n! :( The reason being: The metal stub thingie which extends inner to the lever (which keeps the aperture open for open aperture metering) on the mount is too wide on this lens: almost a semi-circle. Now on the zx5n because of some contacts inside (power zoom?), the base portion of the mount is not all empty (like in my ricoh) but a only a small arc is deep enough. So, lens wont mount :( So question -- Anyplace i can get this stub cut off ? sounds risky to the health of rear glass. Or, get the mount thing replaced to a shorter one someplace ? thanks, nitin - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions.
