(Others are coal black. We don't have the grays that were familiar in Chicago and NY. ) But the full grown reds are a lot bigger than this guy. I would guess he was only about 8 inches long. Most are about 12 inches. Hard to get a sense of scale from the photo. He was also a lot faster than the big ones. Perhaps that's how they survive to become big guys:-).
