I don't believe Flickr provides any kind of password protection for photos.

I believe you are describing a "Guest Pass" link.  The "Guest Pass"
URL is special, and anyone who follows it can see the picture.  There
is no password.

Obviously, this method is only secure to the degree that you can limit
dissemination of the Guest Pass URL.  But that's also true of a
password that you announce quasi-publicly.

I believe you can revoke the Guest Pass URL, so that it stops working.
