The real problem with that, these days, anyway, is that those systems tend not to be expandable. What I mean is that the system will come with some speakers and a box that acts to drive the speakers and a video output. It'll take input from an antenna (maybe) and a cable or satellite TV box. The system-in-a-box may have capabilities like DVR, DVD player, etc., but it may not. And it will have only one or two additional inputs in a lot of cases. So you can hook up any two of your MP3 player, iPod, CD player, computer, game console, etc., to it. If you need to hook up three external sources, you're toast. So make sure to check that the "ins and outs" these systems offer will support your needs.
