Parsnip has such a bland taste (I'm not a fan, either) that the ginger and orange more than overwhelm it (which is a good thing!). There's really little or no "parsnip taste" to the soup. If you get a chance to try some, you'll probably enjoy it. In fact I could send you the recipe off-list if you want.
