By the way Dario, that's a great shot and I'm not criticizing you at all for 
either the exposure or the processing.  It's just a very similar problem to one 
that I'm frequently wrestling with, and I'm curious how the K-5 handles it.  
Mind you, that doesn't make any difference in whether I'll buy a K-5 as soon as 
I can pretend that I can afford one.

fortunately, and not too surprisingly, my linux box is proving to be a bit more 
robust than the mac. Actually the difference seems to be using firefox rather 
than chrome or safari.

The -2 version of the photo certainly shows a lot more detail, I'm impressed 
with what you were able to pull out.  The original processing does have the 
best pop and makes for the most dramatic image.

That's one reason that when I'm shooting in that sort of lighting situation, 
I'll dial back the ISO to get the blown out channel back into line. In the 
hopes that it gives me the most dynamic range for the other channels.
