Hi Doug, >1) Which pad size do you use? I see that they range from very small >(3" x 5", I think) to huge (8" x 10" or 11" x 14"). The 3" x 5" or 4" >x 6" size sound too small for comfortable use, but I haven't used a >tablet in years, and that one was 14" x 14" (_way_ too large).
Wacom ADB (Apple Desktop Bus) A5 Pad. The entire thing is a tad bigger than the size of a paper magazine. Drawablke area is 8.5 inches by 6.25 inches. Programmable 'buttons' along the top, multi-function cordless pen with eraser. It's the perfect size for me. My sister's bloke is a prof. graphics guy and he uses the next size up which is HUGE. Mine fits my wallet, if you see what I mean. Used off ebay for 50. >2) Can I have both it and the mouse connected to the system, and use >whichever one is most appropriate for what I'm doing? That's the way >the Wacom Intuos2 seems to work. I'm guessing that a fast-paced first >person shooter is not the place to use a tablet and pen, rather than a >mouse, for player control. I have a pass-through connector on mine, going into my Mac Blue an White G3, so the mouse is USB and unaffected, operates as normal. If I put an ADB mouse into the pass-through, it will work in conjunction just fine. Actually in the pass-through is a CH Flightstick pro for when I wanna get to yet another level in Descent...;-) The tablet is essential for any graphics work - once you've got one, you will wonder how the Tanj you managed without one all these years.
