From the pictures it looks like the mirror has been locked up by the MLU lever. The shutter is set to "Automatic." Now, I may not be the LX expert but from what I know, if the mirror is locked up and the shutter is on Automatic, I don't believe the shutter will close, especially if there is no film in the camera. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the only problem with this camera is the cracked mirror.
