Thanks, Jack. Your suggestions are very helpful, and I shall play around with it a bit.
I tried several angles on this plant, but this was the best. Some showed blue int eh background, from the water features of the greenhouse, and that was more distracting. Some angles showed a bit of wilt in a flower or leaf, and some did not seem as "balanced" to my eye as this shot. Because I like the flower so much, I submitted it to the Pentax Gallery, even though I recognized it was not technically all that good. To my surprise, it was accepted into the gallery, bringing my little portfolio there up to 45 images. I am always surprised at what makes it into the gallery -- and what doesn't.
