Welcome to the Dark Side of EVF lovers, Boris. I was also impressed

impressed by any of Sony's APS-C cameras (though never used the A700).

It looked pretty bright to me, you know. That viewfinder.

How did you find AF speed? I thought it was good, with the added
benefit that you can set your AF point to practically any place in the
VF.

The lens mounted on the camera was plastic fantastic Vivitar 19-35/3.5-4.5. With this lens it was competent, precise but probably a bit slower than K-7. Yet, for example, with Sigma 24-60 DG K-7 hunts a bit even in good light. It hits the mark, but it takes a bit of time. So, without lots of measurement(erbation) I couldn't possibly tell for sure. My immediate impression was that I could "match" to this camera in less time than it took for me to "match" to K-7.

Speaking of AF of Sony. There is this nice feature of face detection. So, my co-worker has set AF to work only with central region. So I pointed the camera at him and voila - a sight to marvel - the center region focused wherever I pointed it and the white frame appeared around his face as if to say - "I see a face in the frame, don't you?". I find it kind of neat, really.
