if the people who administer the computers at school were any good, they'd be turning this off automatically on every Mac they administer; it doesn't make any sense for Time Machine to even be turned on if, as you suggest, these are machines that are re-imaged every night; Macs are made to work well for individuals out of the box, but there are some changes that large installations that have good IT staff will make to better suit a situation like your school's
