I try not to let them know I'm going to shoot them. I don't want posed portraits. I'm trying for a bit of reality, preserved photographically. The fellow with the Detroit cap had caught me raising my camera earlier. When I knew I was nailed, I pretended to be fooling around, focusing on different things. Later, I shot him with live view, the camera on my lap. Thus, the back of the chair in frame.
