I wonder if it might not be easier than one might suspect. A few days ago, I saw a drawing of the Pentax image stabilization system demonstrating its use of electromagnets on the sensor to achieve it. I can't help thinking it might be a fairly easy trick for them to use that field to tilt and shift the sensor on demand by electronically manipulating the current to the electromagnets.

Of course, that's not to say it's feasible in mass-production -- something I'd have no idea about. But, I don't see why it couldn't be do-able if there was, for some strange reason, a huge demand for that sort of thing.
