t> I personally like Saunders enlargers. Beseler, Omega, Durst, Fujimoto, DeVere, and
Meopta make good stuff too. Just make sure you can get accessories for your model.

Hi,
I can only second Tom's reccommendation to get an enlarget which
will grow with you, so it will accomodate a larger negative in
future (OTOH, you may think that due to digital development, there
will be no larger negs in future... I don't think so <g>)

Anyway, it's allways better to have enlarger with
lightsource/condenser bigger than your neg by fair amount, it gives
you better consistency of illumination, without falloff.

//wrt to Meopta - I have direct experience with them because it's
our local company in Czechia, it produces some really nice while
inexpensive enlargers (most very rugged and steady, which is big
plus), but if you will be thinking about one, and would be printing
anything bigger than 35mm, get a Magnifax IV, not any Opemus or
Axomat, these are not good for 6x6 or bigger, trust me. I have the
Magnifax IV (6x9cm) - being able to buy it -locally produced-, it was so
cheap you wouldn't believe me, and lately bought a colour head plus
built a stabilised source for it for a price you wouldn't believe
too <g>. Enlarger I bought used for 85$, colour head for ... 12$
(perfectly working order), power source for it build for 15$...
there are good things about flea markets <G>//

Good light,
   Frantisek Vlcek
