i have, however, seen some pretty good deals on tripod+head on my local (Denver) craigslist; haven't needed a new tripod badly enough to go for it, on the assumption i'll eventually score one in a thrift store (i live one block from a Goodwill, and make a little bit of money cherry picking electronics and such)
