Subject: Some preliminary observations from my trip
I carry my K20D on a "sniper" sling. The controls need stronger detents.
Sounds like you need a looser/bigger sniper sling.
I wasted shots because the the camera slipped from Av to Tv or TAv or Sv
or X or any other mode except the shooting mode I wanted it to be in.
The shake reduction switch moved to off several times as well, and the
auto-focus point selection would move from spot to SEL and it would not be
the point I wanted. Seemed to move around at random. I even had the
battery grip switch move from Off to On & take groups of photos because
the shutter release on the battery grip was against my side.
The random modes the controls would switch to would not give me an
acceptable exposure.
While I eventually learned I had to make a control check of all these
points every time I lifted the camera to shoot, it took time and I was not
able to make some shots I wanted because the moment passed while I was
still attempting to get the camera returned to a functional mode.
The rubber eye cup is extremely flimsy. It has torn almost completely off
the camera. Either it should be strengthened or the replacement cost
should be reduced commensurate with the frequency it's going to require
replacement from simple use.
I had none of these problems with the LX by the way. Every time I put it
to my eye, the controls were exactly as I had left them the last time I
used them.
Most of the features that got changed don't exist on an LX.
It was *Rock Solid* all the way.
I also learned it does no good to compose your shots. While you're doing
so, the machine gunners will knock you down and trample all over you
ruining whatever composition you might be attempting.
What was the makeup of the group?
I've done alot of workshops with up to 12 participants & yeah a few are
a**holes but most are considerate & the pro made sure we all got our turn.
And then they got their feelings hurt when I told them I didn't care to be
trampled on while I was trying to compose a shot; that I was somehow
anti-social not to value the privilege of being elbowed out of the way by
them.
Initially when I ran into this phenom I made sure I got in front of the
a**holes to get the shot.
