Debated that. ;-) Called the rat people instead. Now all the roof rats seem to be gone (house was abandoned, after all).

But then it was the thermal windows, making these popping sounds. Or thumping sounds, somewhere in between the two. Very loud. Would literally wake me up, especially as I was falling asleep. Slept very poorly for about a month and was beginning to hate the house. Now they have calmed down, not sure what that was all about. Maybe adjusting to having interior heat on again?!? Some sort of pressure differential? Clueless. But it was very annoying.

Anyway, liking house again.

Marnie Or maybe it was/is ghosts. :-) Still a thump now and then, but not often.

Sounds fun (not ;-). Weird noises? Call Ghostbusters.

See if I can reply in 150 words or less. :-)

Sold Condo after 5 months. Revisited ABQ, NM and Medford, OR to redecide if I wanted to live there. Decided Oregon was a watered-down CA, and ABQ was way too dry after all. Didn't think I could afford to remain in CA or the Bay Area (near Berkeley & SF, because this is definitely a high “rent” district). But decided, yup, I really, really wanted to. So I stayed in a motel for 5 months looking at foreclosures. FINALLY, just when I was about to leave again for Medford, found one that I could afford that didn't need oodles of fixing up. Closed end of July. Fixed up house, got my loan mid-October. Just got my kitchen done and insulation goes in next week. Then basically all the big stuff will be done and I can relish the joys of home ownership (and all the hassle too :-)).

That's under 150 words even if you count the smiley.

Except for some weird noises and some work in the yard that still needs to be done, yes, I am loving it.

And now I am starting to get back to my normal life (whatever that is, not sure I remember anymore, it's been so long).

Marnie ;-)

Is there a time limit on that "event", Cotty?
Well, obviously it would be useful within my lifetime but should the
need arise, I'd be quite happy to be exhumed and placed at table, as
long as there was suitable interest, with my hat (which I will no
doubt
be buried with). All welcome. Just need a helping hand or two with
the
cutlery and mandibular movement. If there's no soft tissue left, just
let the bite-sized denim chunks drop down into the rib cage, that
should
  suffice.
