Well, just maybe JCO might not appreciate competition driving up the price on the lens - maybe he, or some other PDML-er yet to bid, might be hoping that very few would notice the auction, so that he/she could get the lens for less than if everyone knows about it and a rush of "tipped off" bidders work to make the seller happy. (I don't presume to speak for JCO, by the way.) > I think I have enough sense to not post a link close to the end > of an auction, but this early on, I don't see a lot of harm, > especially with a small market item like a 6x7 lens. Correct me > if I am wrong, but there is less than a dozen "registered" 6x7 > owners on the list? Well, to use JCO as an example again (sorry, Sir - <g>) - If JCO were the only one to bid on the lens, he might get the lens for less than if even one or two others also bid on the lens. No? > Did I miss something? Was there a gentlemans agreement on the > list to refrain from Ebay informational posting? No, no such agreement was ever decided upon (nor would it ever last, either - <g>). I am merely expressing my frustration at a practice that I find to be an expensive annoyance for some of us (those who ~work~ at finding Pentax bargains) in order to benefit others (those who thus are tipped off to bargains-that-become-expensive).
