Just about to turn 40 but I still play in a youth band, so I must still
be young!

The JayCees (US JUNIOR Chamber of Commerce) let you to stay until age
35, at which time you became an "Exhausted Rooster".
[2004 Bylaw change made the age range 18 - 40 ... and "Exhausted
Rooster" was dropped in favor of a more PC "Jaycee Graduate" designation.]
