I know a sports photog who might easily shoot 500-1000 at one event.
Capacity must always exceed need.

At a race, it's easy for me to shoot a thousand or more a day trying to get several shots of each of the 200-400 cars entered. I'd still rather deal with a bunch of 4GB cards, though, than a few 64GB cards, because it's less shots to lose at once if I lose or destroy a card, or it commits hara kiri.
