Imagine interlocking your fingers together with your fingers facing dorsally. These are the "tips" of the aperture blades. When you look at your hands ventrally (palm side) they are smooth. NO, I haven't been drinking :).
An examination of some of my other Pentax lenses yielded the following: "Smooth side" facing forward: FA*24mm f2.0 FA 28-105 f4-5.6 Power Zoom FA 50mm f2.8 Macro Tips facing forward: F 100mm f2.8 Macro Still just wondering.
