A few months ago there was a 600/4, 800/6.7 and 1000/8 sold on eBay out of 
Switzerland. That was the first time I had seen a 1000/8 for sale and from 
memory it sold for somewhere between $1000 and $1500. The big f4 lenses are 
nice talking points but not that great in terms of image quality. One of the 
shops in Melbourne has a 500/5.6 for under $1000, but even that is way too rich 
for my blood despite being a bit more usable. Mostly I have been paying $100 - 
$200 for the collector lenses which is probably what I would be paying if I was 
collecting M42 lenses or the first k-mount lenses. Mind you, 67 lenses start to 
look cheap compared to A* lenses.
