It's a lot better built than DA18-55. In fact, it feels quite solid. It has
some barrel distortion at the short end, but not much in it's class. Not much
compared to DA*16-50, either. Sharpness is good. I have made A3+ printouts from
it and they are as sharp as they can get. Focusing is fast and quiet. Manual
focusing is it's weak point. I will definitely recommend it over DA18-55.

Subject: New Pentax 18-135: any experiences?

Hi guys,

It's time to update the ist-DL with something better. To this end, I'm going
camera shopping this Saturday. A K5 body and grip are definitely on the list,
and I'm seriously considering the new 18-135 zoom to go with it. I'd be
interested though, to hear feedback from anyone who might already have this
lens, or has tried it out in some way or form. What say you of its
capabilites? Oh - totally uninformed banter also most welcome... :-)

Regards,

Pete Mac in sunny Melbourne
