Yes I am using the onboard flash and will have to rely on it for a while
until I get the monies for a flash. I may also need to research the settings
on the camera too as this may have caused them to be a bit more dark than
they should have been as I took the pictures.

This go around don't rush into riding your bike. Do you have your camera
gear with you when you are out riding your bike.

Like Jack said, a bit dark.

Are you (as I suspect) using the on-board pop-up flash?  They are next to
useless.  You'll need to invest in a decent dedicated flash.  I don't know
flashes (I use an old Vivitar something-or-other), but if you do a lot of
indoor stuff, it will be invaluable.

Either that or get a really fast lens.

The flash will be cheaper.
